Thanks to my son Liam (who is a machinist and works with tools I’m frankly frightened of!) for helping cut down the pier for the new Micro-observatory, my pier is now ready to mount and do final polar alignment checks on so Liam can weld on the mounting plates to attach the telescope to. Unfortunately the mounting plate used on my existing tripod pier extension doesn’t fit so I’m back to the old brake rotor approach again!
